On 14 January this year, the first "Industry Experience Day" of the companies GEA Brewery Systems, Dow Deutschland and Shell Deutschland Oil was held at the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH). This event aims to actively support talented process engineering students. It was initiated by Professor Dr. Andreas Liese, Head of the Institute for Technical Biocatalysis, who also acted as moderator on this day.
Awards for outstanding performance
The event started with the presentation of awards to the students for their
outstanding performance in the field of process engineering. The award winners started their studies in 2006 and all of them had the year's best intermediate diploma in their course of studies. The GEA Brewery Systems award was given to
Jan-Georg Rosenboom from Horneburg, student of Biotechnology - Process Engineering. The award was presented by
Kristina Böe, Technical Director of GEA Brewery Systems, and is worth 1000 Euros. Furthermore, Jörg Luedtke (Process Engineering) from Hamburg and Eike Higgen (Energy and Environmental Technology) from the East Frisian city of Esens also received a € 1000 award.
Presentation of GEA Brewery Systems
After the award ceremony, the students had the chance to learn more about the organizing companies. The main topics were possible job opportunities for process engineering graduates at GEA Brewery Systems, Dow Deutschland or Shell Deutschland Oil. In three short speeches and a subsequent panel discussion, TUHH graduates talked about their experience when they started their professional career and about their process engineering jobs.
GEA Brewery Systems to participate again next year
For the first time, GEA Brewery Systems was one of the organizing companies of the Industry Experience Day at TUHH. The close contact with the students and the idea of supporting talented students at the right place spoke for themselves, so that GEA Brewery Systems will certainly participate again next year.
